Nutrinza has taken a bold step forward in on-farm feed monitoring with the launch of “SiloSure”, a new silo sensor delivered in partnership with New Zealand-based tech company GrainSure.
Designed with farmer safety, efficiency, and accuracy in mind, this smart technology delivers real-time data insights eliminating the need to climb onto silos to check feed levels.
Each system includes two radar devices per silo: one secured to the lid and one mounted on a bracket 400mm from the edge. This dual-sensor setup enables highly accurate, continuous monitoring, with live data accessible via a user-friendly app straight to a handheld device and/or a computer.
“This technology tracks daily feed consumption, giving farmers a clear view of how much feed they have on hand and how many days it will last,” says Nutrinza’s managing Director, Warren Morritt.
“Manually monitoring silos is time consuming, and it is also a health and safety concern too for farmers and their staff having to climb up the silo to check feed levels. Removing that risk, along with the risk of lost milk production due to feed running out, is a real game changer,” he adds.
Farmers can directly share silo data with Nutrinza, allowing them to manage their operations more efficiently. Feed deliveries can be scheduled automatically using the shared data.
More than just convenient, the system is also designed for durability and flexibility, with a sensor lifespan of four to five years, a 24-month warranty, and automatic online software updates, delivering long-term reliability.
The solution supports both single and multiple silo setups, offering a customisable feed schedule tailored to each farm's specific needs. SiloSure also provides a Farm Group View, enabling farmers to monitor all silos on one dashboard for complete visibility.
Developed in New Zealand by GrainSure, and in use since 2019, the SiloSure solution uses solar-powered radar sensors and LoRaWAN technology to provide accurate, real-time data on silo levels, usage rates, and predicted run-out dates.
The system can be accessed via a mobile app or computer, and its proven performance in dusty environments makes it reliable for both single and multiple silo setups.
Nutrinza and GrainSure will showcase the system this week at the Fieldays at Site PC2, located inside the Pavilion at Mystery Creek Events Centre.
