Mineral options
MineralBoost Plus
All the benefits of MineralBoost Classic plus the added advantage of Phosphorus and NutriPlex 5.
MineralBoost Plus is a rumen-dispersible granule containing high-quality calcium, magnesium, sodium and phosphorus. When added to an animal’s diet, MineralBoost will maximise production and liveweight gain whilst also safeguarding against metabolic disorders.
Each MineralBoost granule contains the exact ratio of materials required in the formulation. Granules are easy to measure and blend. The salt in each granule makes it palatable for animals. Accuracy counts.
Phosphorus is a key element in energy transfer, as well as an important component of bones and teeth. It is a chemical in the body that has important biological functions, such as buffering acid-base balance, helping with energy production and muscle contractions, and being a major component of bone. Low levels in cows most commonly occur around calving and contribute to down cows.
Product makeup
Calcium
Calcimate in MineralBoost is manufactured from high-quality New Zealand limestone. The industry’s most stringent manufacturing and testing processes ensure a fine, high-calcium supplement you can trust. Calcium maximises milk production post-calving, optimises assimilation, improves reproduction, strengthens the cows’ immune system, counters the stress from cold weather and extreme activity (i.e. mating, calving) and enables younger stock to reach their growth potential.
Sodium
MineralBoost contains quality New Zealand-sourced sodium. Dairy cows routinely expel sodium from the body in urine, faeces, saliva and milk, which has to be replaced. Sodium is an essential element for animals and may be one of the most cost-effective ways to increase milk production. Research has shown that supplementing with sodium can produce a significant response when dietary levels are low. Sodium, in some form, should be available at all times, year-round. Rapidly growing young animals require sodium for new tissue formation, and if sodium is deficient, appetite is suppressed.
Magnesium
MineralBoost contains high-quality magnesium sourced from Australia. Magnesium is required for the production of hormones that are important for the absorption of calcium from the gut and the mobilisation of calcium from bones. Magnesium supplementation reduces animal health problems and increases milk production. The magnesium requirement of the modern dairy cow has increased, partly due to increased use of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) fertilisers and also due to an increase in cow genetic merit. All cows are to some extent deficient in magnesium in late pregnancy. Cows cannot access magnesium stored in the body; therefore, it is best to supplement daily.
Phosphorous
MineralBoost Plus contains phosphorus, an essential mineral that is often overlooked Phosphorous deficiency may reduce growth, energy, bone development, blood formation and nutrient metabolism.
Organic Trace Minerals (NutriPlex®5)
NutriPlex®5 is a safe, traceable product for improving animal health and performance, which leads to increased profitability. Trials show improved reproductive performance, reduced mastitis, and increased hoof hardness. NutriPlex®5 has been specifically formulated for New Zealand cows.
NutriPlex®5 delivers zinc, copper, selenium (as Sel-Plex®), cobalt and iodine, which is a specific blend of five essential organic trace minerals designed for feeding all year round.
NutriPlex®5 minerals are organically bound complexes where positively charged minerals such as copper, zinc and cobalt are bound to peptides (very small protein molecules) and amino acids. They are more bioavailable to the cow than inorganic minerals such as sulphates.

Feed storage on farm
As with any grain or meal feed, products need to be kept dry, as moisture combined with heat can cause fungi to grow. Common on-farm storage methods are: in a shed or unused fertiliser bin; in a covered pit; on a concrete pad; or in a cutting, covered with a plastic sheet and tyres. Most feed should be used reasonably expediently (within 40 - 50 days). The longer you plan to store feed products, the better your storage facilities need to be.
