Hominy aids palatability, has good hydration properties and is a good carbohydrate source of energy. It can also contribute significant amounts of calcium, iron, riboflavin and thiamine to diets. Due to its high quality hominy is a very digestible feed but care does need to be taken to avoid over feeding.
